Well today brought more rain and travel. We started the morning in Anchorage with a visit to the Alaska Native Heritage Center. It was very informative and interesting stop. We learned a lot about the native peoples from Alaska . There are at least 11 different groups, all with their own languages. They are broken up by geographic location and their lifestyles are based on that geography. The Athabascan are semi nomadic but other coastal groups were not because their food source was the ocean. They lived in different types of dwellings with many being underground as this kept them warmer, provided protection from the wind and predators. Despite their differences they all followed 10 universal values:

Share what you have : Giving makes you richer
Show respect to others : Each person has a special gift
Know who you are: You are a reflection on vour family
Accept what life brings : You cannot control many things
Have patience: Some things cannot be rushed
Live carefully: What you do will come back to you
Take care of others : You cannot live without them
Honor your elders: They show you the way in life
Pray for guidance: Many things are not known
See connections: All things are related
Beautiful values and wise words words to live by, I think….

Following this we stopped for lunch and then got on the road to Seward. Seward is our final stop before boarding the cruise ship. We drovethe Seward highway which is one of the most scenic ( and
dangerous roads) in America. It rained on and off during the drive
so picture taking was a bit rough.
We checked into the Windsong Lodge in Seward which was very
nice and quaint. Tomorrow is a big day with an all day cruise in
Kenai Fjords National Park- should be heavy of the photos!
